Managing the settings of the browser extension
- The Genealogy Assistant popup panel is opened by clicking the extension’s icon in your browsers toolbar. This displays a window containing all of the features, tools and configurable settings available. By default, all features in Genealogy Assistant are enabled by default.
- Features in Genealogy Assistant organized into categories which can be expanded to reveal all features:
- Quick Settings & Search
- Ancestry Research/DNA
- MyHeritage DNA
- FamilySearch & More
- To enable or disable a feature in Genealogy Assistant, check or uncheck the box to the left of each feature. Once enabled, the feature will automatically work on the website it was designed for.
- To learn more about a specific feature, hover over the information (i) icon next to its name. This will display a short description of what the feature does and how it enhances your research. Click the Information (i) icon to be directed to that features page in the Genealogy Assistant documentation.
- Some features have customizable settings which you can configure by clicking the Edit (pen and paper) icon next to the feature name. Clicking this will open a settings panel where you can adjust the feature to fit your preferences or workflow. You can also click the Edit advanced settings button at the bottom of the Genealogy Assistant popup panel to edit all settings.
- Any features you enable or customize will remain active, ensuring they are ready to use the next time you visit the relevant genealogy website.
