What problem does MyHeritage Download Matches Pages as CSV solve?
MyHeritage does not give you a way to export your DNA match list. MyHeritage Download Matches Pages as CSV reads your match pages directly in the browser and saves them to a spreadsheet you can sort, filter, and keep with the rest of your research notes.
How does MyHeritage Download Matches Pages as CSV work?
On the MyHeritage DNA matches list, a new Download CSV button is added next to the existing toolbar, along with a small box where you choose how many pages to download and a gear icon labelled Download Settings. The download starts from the page you are on and follows any filters you have applied.
Matches are loaded straight from MyHeritage 50 at a time. A progress overlay shows how many have been saved and includes a Cancel Download button, and every match is saved as soon as it is loaded, so a download that stops loses nothing.
MyHeritage only lets an account load so many matches in a short time. When it starts refusing, the download pauses, counts down to its next try in the progress overlay, and then carries on at a slower pace, so a long list finishes on its own without you starting it again.
If you cancel, close the tab, or MyHeritage stops responding, a Resume download button appears beside the page box showing how much was completed. Clicking it carries on where it stopped and saves one file with every match. The × on it discards the download.
Click the gear icon to open the download settings panel from the matches page itself, where you can change the download method and the download speed. The downloaded file is named {Test Name} {GUID} – MyHeritage Match List.csv and contains the following columns:

Shared Surnames and Ancestral Places are the surnames and places MyHeritage found in both your tree and the match’s tree. Theory and Theory Status are filled in when MyHeritage has a Theory of Family Relativity for the match, giving the relationship it suggests and whether it is pending, confirmed or rejected.
Relationship Range lists the relationships MyHeritage considers possible for the DNA you share, and Common Ancestors says where your shared ancestors most likely sit, such as Great-grandparents. New marks the matches MyHeritage shows as new on your list.
How do I use MyHeritage Download Matches Pages as CSV?
- Ensure MyHeritage Download Matches Pages as CSV is enabled in the Genealogy Assistant pop-up panel.
- Navigate to your MyHeritage DNA matches list and apply any filters you want the download to follow.
- In the box next to the Download CSV button, enter the number of pages you want to download, counting from the page you are on.
- Click Download CSV. A progress overlay shows how many matches have been saved.
- To stop early, click Cancel Download in the overlay. The CSV is saved with every match collected so far.
- If a download stops before it finishes, click Resume download beside the page box to carry on, or the × on it to discard it.
- When the process finishes, the CSV file will be saved to your downloads folder.
- To change the download speed, click the gear icon beside Download CSV, set Download speed to Standard, Walk or Crawl, and click Save & Close.
