What problem does Image Records Name Auto-fill solve?
When you save an image Ancestry record like a census page, parish register, or passenger list to your tree, the Save to Tree dialog asks you to type the person’s name into the Person in tree field before it can match them up, even though the record title already shows whose record you’re saving. Image Records Name Auto-fill fills that field in for you automatically.
How does Image Records Name Auto-fill work?
When you click Save on an image Ancestry record, the Save to Tree dialog opens with the Person in tree field already filled in with the name taken from the record title. Ancestry’s autocomplete runs as if you had typed the name yourself, so the matching profile appears in the dropdown and you can pick it without any typing.
How do I use Image Records Name Auto-fill?
- Ensure Image Records Name Auto-fill is enabled in the Genealogy Assistant pop-up panel.
- Open any image Ancestry record in the viewer and click Save.
- The Person in tree field will already be filled in with the person’s name. Pick the matching profile from the dropdown and continue with the save.
