What problem does MyHeritage Download Shared Matches as CSV solve?
Working through shared matches one match at a time is slow, and there is no built-in way on MyHeritage to export them. MyHeritage Download Shared Matches as CSV collects every shared match for the DNA match you are viewing and saves them to a spreadsheet, complete with the relationship details for both the match and the person you are viewing.
How does MyHeritage Download Shared Matches as CSV work?
On the shared matches view of any MyHeritage DNA match, a new Download CSV button is added to the toolbar along with a small input field for the number of pages to collect. Click the button and Genealogy Assistant walks through every shared match page in turn, gathering the relationship to your match and the relationship to the person you are viewing. A progress overlay shows how many matches have loaded and includes a Cancel Download button so you can stop at any time.
A Show All link is also added beside MyHeritage’s own show-more link at the bottom of the shared matches list. It loads every remaining page into the page without downloading anything, which is useful when you want to read or sort the full list on screen first. While it runs, the link changes to Stop with a running count of loaded matches, and clicking it again stops the loading. Both this and the download load pages at the speed set by MyHeritage shared speed in Advanced Settings, and a slower setting can finish a long list sooner because MyHeritage throttles a list that is requested too quickly.
Where a shared match triangulates with you and the match you are viewing, MyHeritage marks the row with a small chromosome browser icon on the right. The number of triangulated segments behind that icon is recorded in the CSV as well, so you can sort your spreadsheet to find the matches that share the same piece of DNA rather than opening the chromosome browser one match at a time. Shared matches that do not triangulate are left blank in that column. A drop-down arrow next to the Download CSV button opens a Download triangulated option, which collects the same pages but saves only the triangulating shared matches to the file. If none of the loaded shared matches triangulate, the progress overlay tells you that none were found and no file is downloaded.
The downloaded file contains the following columns:
- Match Name
- Estimated Relationship
- Shared cM
- Shared Percentage
- Groups
- Star Status
- GUID
- URL
- Also Matches
- GUID of Match
- Estimated Relationship to Match
- Shared cM with Match
- Shared Percentage with Match
- Triangulated Segments

If none of the loaded shared matches triangulate, the overlay tells you that none were found and nothing is downloaded.
- To stop early, click Cancel Download in the overlay. The CSV will be saved with whatever has been collected so far.
