What problem does Save to Tree Name Auto-fill solve?
When you save a record to your Ancestry tree from a person’s profile, the Save to Tree dialog asks you to type the person’s name into the Person in Tree field before it can match them to your tree, even though Ancestry already knows which profile you came from. Save to Tree Name Auto-fill fills that field in for you so you can skip straight to the save step.
How does Save to Tree Name Auto-fill work?
When the Save to Tree dialog opens from an Ancestry person profile, the Person in Tree field is automatically filled in with the name shown on the profile. Ancestry’s autocomplete runs as if you had typed the name yourself, so the matching profile appears in the dropdown and you can pick it without any typing. If you clear or edit the field, the auto-fill stays out of the way so you can type a different name.
How do I use Save to Tree Name Auto-fill?
- Ensure Save to Tree Name Auto-fill is enabled in the Genealogy Assistant pop-up panel.
- Open any Ancestry person profile and click Save to Tree.
- The Person in Tree field will already be filled in with the person’s name. Pick the matching profile from the dropdown and continue with the save.
