Taking a clean screenshot of an Ancestry family tree is harder than it should be. The toolbars, side panels, and interface buttons all end up in the capture, and the default layout is laid out for the screen rather than the page. Family Tree Screenshot Tools adds two one-click view modes that strip away the clutter and lay the tree out for a screenshot or print.
How does Family Tree Screenshot Tools work?
On any Ancestry family tree, two new toggle buttons are added to the tree toolbar: Tree cleaner and Printable tree. Tree cleaner hides all of the Ancestry interface chrome so only the tree itself is visible, which is ideal for a quick screenshot. Printable tree goes a step further and lays the tree out in a vertical format suitable for printing or saving as an image. Clicking either button again returns the tree to the normal view.
How do I use Family Tree Screenshot Tools?
- Ensure Family Tree Screenshot Tools is enabled in the Genealogy Assistant pop-up panel.
- Open any Ancestry family tree.
- Click Tree cleaner to hide the interface for a clean screenshot, or Printable tree to lay the tree out for print. Click the same button again to return to the normal view.
