What problem does Advanced Search for Records Page solve?
When you open an Ancestry record, the details on the page are often the perfect starting point for finding the same person on another site, but it means opening each site and retyping their name, dates, and places one by one. Advanced Search for Records Page adds a single Search button to every Ancestry record with a dropdown that can fire pre-filled searches at seven major genealogy sites.
How does Advanced Search for Records Page work?
On any Ancestry record page a new Search button is added alongside the existing action buttons. Hovering over it opens a dropdown menu with links to search for the person on multiple genealogy sites. Each link automatically pulls the name, birth and death dates, and birth and death places straight from the record, so you don’t have to retype anything. Each search opens in a new tab, and there is also a Search All Sites option that opens all seven searches at once.
How do I use Advanced Search for Records Page?
- Ensure Advanced Search for Records Page is enabled in the Genealogy Assistant pop-up panel.
- Open any Ancestry record page.
- Hover over the new Search button to open the dropdown menu, then click the site you want to search. The results will open in a new tab, pre-filled with the person’s details.
