What problem does Ancestry Match List Sorting solve?
Ancestry always opens your DNA match list sorted by “Closest” (the strongest matches first), which is often not the view you want. If you are watching for new matches, you would rather open the list sorted by “Newest”. There is no way to change that default. Ancestry Match List Sorting lets you pick either sort order from the pop-up panel and applies it every time you open the match list.
How does Ancestry Match List Sorting work?
A two-way selector appears in the Genealogy Assistant pop-up panel with two options: Newest and Closest. Newest sorts your match list by the date the match was added so the most recent matches are at the top. Closest keeps Ancestry’s default sort by cM. Whichever option you pick is applied every time you open your match list, on every AncestryDNA profile you manage.
How do I use Ancestry Match List Sorting?
- Open the Genealogy Assistant pop-up panel.
- Find Ancestry Match List Sorting and click either Newest or Closest.
- Open your AncestryDNA match list. It will be sorted by the option you chose.
