What problem does 23andMe Add Groups to Shared Matches solve?
23andMe lets you see the relatives you have in common with each match, but it does not let you tag or organise those shared matches into your own custom groups. 23andMe Add Groups to Shared Matches adds a full grouping system on top of the Relatives in Common page so you can create coloured groups, assign shared matches to them across the entire list at once, and see who belongs to what at a glance.
How does 23andMe Add Groups to Shared Matches work?
On any 23andMe Relatives in Common page, an Add/Manage Groups button is added to the toolbar. Clicking it opens a sidebar where you can create coloured groups, edit them, delete them, and pin the ones you use most. Tick the checkboxes next to each shared match to assign them to a group, and a small coloured circle appears next to every match showing which groups they belong to. Group assignments are saved per kit and persist across sessions.
To bulk-assign large clusters, click Select across all pages in the sidebar and Genealogy Assistant will scan every page of the shared list, collect the matches, and let you assign them all to a group at once. Each match’s shared cM, shared percentage and segment count are captured automatically as you scroll, so you can sort and filter your groups by those values from the sidebar.
